ABSTRACT

AIM: This research was conducted to evaluate the mediation effect of anxiety and life satisfaction on the relationship between Care burden and Parent Child Relationship in Turkish parents during the COVID-19 epidemic. METHODS: The research was carried out with parents (221 women and 219 men) who have children between the ages of 6-18 living in Turkey. Data were collected in June-July 2021 using the demographic data form, "Care Burden Scale," "Pervasive Anxiety Disorder-7 Test," "Satisfaction with Life Scale," and "Parent Child Relationship Scale." Path analysis was used to analyse the relationships. In this study, structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to examine the path analysis. RESULTS: It was found that the burden of care and anxiety of the parents and the parent-child conflict relationship were positively correlated and negatively correlated with the life satisfaction and parent-child closeness relationship (p < 0.05). Path model analyses revealed that the burden of care had a direct effect on anxiety and life satisfaction, and an indirect effect on the parent-child relationship, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: It shows that parents' perceptions of how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting their mental health have implications for parent and child well-being, with stronger relationships for low-income families. Anxiety and life satisfaction had a mediating effect between care burden and parent-child relationship. Given the demonstrable impact of COVID-19 on the parent-child relationship, this study may guide the planning of coping strategies and programmes focused on mental health.

ABSTRACT

Background: Hypertension is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases among the older adult population in China and older adults with hypertension are more susceptible to mental health problems. This study aimed to explore the network structure of depression and anxiety, and their association with life satisfaction (LS) in older adults with hypertension. Methods: A total of 4,993 hypertensive individuals aged 60 and above were selected from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS 2017-2018). The design of the CLHLS study was approved by the Campus Institutional Review Board of Duke University (Pro00062871) and the Biomedical Ethics Committee of Peking University (IRB00001052-13,074). The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale-10 (CESD-10) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7 (GAD-7) were used to assess depressive and anxiety symptoms. Central and bridge symptoms were identified via "Expected Influence" and "Bridge Expected Influence", respectively. Network stability was assessed using the case-dropping bootstrap technique. Results: Network analysis identified CESD3 (Feeling blue/depressed), GAD4 (Trouble relaxing), and GAD2 (Uncontrollable worry) as the most influential central symptoms in the network of depression and anxiety. Concurrently, GAD1 (Nervousness or anxiety), CESD10 (Sleep disturbances), and CESD1 (Feeling bothered) stand as critical bridge symptoms between depression and anxiety disorders. Moreover, CESD7 (Lack of happiness) exhibited the strongest negative correlation with LS in Chinese hypertensive older adults. Conclusion: This exploratory study represents the first investigation to examine the mutual relationship between depressive and anxiety symptoms among Chinese hypertensive older adults. Interventions addressing targeting bridge symptoms have the potential to alleviate depressive and anxiety symptoms. Furthermore, improving happiness, hope, and sleep quality in this population may mitigate the adverse effects of depression and anxiety on LS.

ABSTRACT

Background: Produce prescription programs have strong potential to improve food security, fruit and vegetable consumption, and health across the life course. Understanding clients' experiences and satisfaction with produce prescription programs is critical for evaluating the person-centeredness and quality of these programs. The objectives of this study were to (1) describe client experiences and satisfaction with produce prescription programs, with an emphasis on the extent to which they felt they were treated with respect and dignity, and (2) identify recommendations for improving client experiences. Methods: We conducted four focus group discussions with clients of produce prescription programs in two Federally Qualified Health Centers in California. We used a modified framework analysis approach and organized participants' experiences with programs into themes. Results: Three themes captured participants' program experiences. First, respectful produce prescription programming encompassed interactions with individuals delivering the programs that felt respectful (e.g., program staff showing they cared about participants' health and offering timely assistance with financial incentives) and disrespectful (e.g., not receiving prompt responses to questions about incentives), as well as aspects of program design perceived to be respectful (e.g., provision of gift cards as financial incentives, which offered privacy when purchasing produce). Second, having autonomy to use gift cards to choose their preferred fresh fruits and vegetables was viewed as a positive experience, though participants desired greater autonomy to shop at stores other than the program designated stores. Third, participants frequently discussed program usability, with some reporting that joining the programs and using the cards was easy, and others describing difficulties activating cards and using them at stores due to cashiers' lack of awareness of the programs. Overall, participants were highly satisfied with the programs. To improve client experiences, they recommended increasing privacy (e.g., by educating cashiers on the programs so that clients do not need to explain in public what the card is for) and autonomy (e.g., allowing cards to be used at other chain or local stores). Discussion: Our findings inform efforts to make produce prescription programs more person-centered and respectful, which in turn may increase program demand, engagement, and impact.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To examine the relationship between the dissatisfaction of family caregivers with diabetes treatment and depressive symptoms among the elderly. METHODS: The subjects were diabetic patients of 65 years of age or older and their family caregivers, who were outpatients at Ise Red Cross Hospital. The Japanese version of the Patient Health Questionnaire 9, which consists of nine items, was used to measure depressive symptoms. The Japanese version of the Treatment Satisfaction Scale for Caregivers of Dependent Diabetic Patients (STCD2-J) was used to measure the satisfaction of family caregivers with diabetes treatment. A logistic regression analysis was performed using depressive symptoms as dependent variable, satisfaction of the family caregiver with diabetes treatment as an explanatory variable, and adjustment variables. RESULTS: In total, 272 patients were included in the analysis. Taking the quintiles of STCD2-J scores, the adjusted odds ratios for patient depressive symptoms in Q2 (27-29), Q3 (24-26), Q4 (22-23) and Q5 (14-21) based on Q1 (30-36) (the group with the highest STCD2-J scores) were 2.44 (95% confidence interval (CI), 0.69-8.61; P=0.163), 3.08 (95% CI, 0.93-10.12; P=0.063), 2.69 (95% CI, 0.68-10.65; P=0.156), and 4.54 (95% CI, 1.44-14.32; P=0.010), respectively. CONCLUSION: We found that family caregivers' decreased satisfaction with diabetes treatment was associated with depressive symptoms. It is important to alert primary care physicians about depressive symptoms when they see family caregivers who show decreased satisfaction with diabetes treatment.

BACKGROUND: Maternal satisfaction during delivery services is considered an important indicator of the quality of healthcare in a hospital setting and determines the uptake of services during subsequent pregnancies. However, there is limited information on the magnitude of women's satisfaction during delivery services in the study area. Thus, this study aimed to assess factors associated with maternal satisfaction with delivery services among women who gave birth at public hospitals in Guji Zone, Southern Ethiopia. METHOD: A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted at public hospitals in Guji Zone from December 1, 2020, to January 30, 2021. Two hundred forty-nine women who gave birth at public hospitals were recruited by a systematic random sampling technique. The collected data were entered into the Epi Info 7 software and then exported to SPSS Version 26 for analysis. A logistic regression model was employed to identify the association between independent variables and maternal satisfaction during delivery services. A P-value less than 0.05 and an Adjusted Odds Ratio with 95% CI was computed to determine the strength of the association between these variables. RESULT: In this study, 138(55.4%), 95% CI (49.1-61.7) women were satisfied with delivery. Mothers who delivered through cesarean section (AOR = 2.92, 95% CI: 1.34-6.33), privacy assured (AOR = 3.14, 95% CI: 1.76-5.59), shorter duration of labor (AOR = 2.82, 95% CI: 1.64-4.62), waiting time ≤ 30 min (AOR = 5.15,95% CI:1.99-13.32) and normal fetal outcome (AOR = 2.63, 95% CI:1.42-4.85) were associated with mothers satisfaction with delivery care services. CONCLUSION: The overall magnitude of women's satisfaction with delivery services is low, which is below the national client satisfaction target of ≥ 85%. Factors such as mode of delivery, assured privacy, short duration of labor, waiting time ≤ 30 min, and good fetal outcome were significantly associated with women's satisfaction with delivery services. Therefore, healthcare providers should provide better management during intrapartum childbirth or emergency obstetric care to improve fetal outcomes during delivery services. In addition, health facility managers should avail infrastructure that helps to maintain the privacy of women who give birth in the facility.

OBJECTIVES: This study assessed psychological hardiness and compassion satisfaction among the Türk Kizilay (Turkish Red Crescent) personnel and volunteers involved in the 2023 Kahramanmaras earthquake. Additionally, the relationship between compassion satisfaction and psychological hardiness was also investigated. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted between March and July 2023. Participants completed an online survey, which included the Sociodemographic Information Form, Psychological Hardiness Scale, and Compassion Satisfaction Scale. The data was analyzed with SPSS version 25 (IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, USA), using a significance level of 95% and p < 0.05. RESULTS: The study involved 400 participants, comprising 84 (21%) personnel and 316 (79%) volunteers. Participants exhibited an average psychological hardiness level of 24.56 ± 7.25 and a compassion satisfaction level of 47.40 ± 17.28. A significant positive correlation was observed between compassion satisfaction and psychological hardiness (r = 0.571; p < 0.001). The results of logistics regression have revealed that the level of psychological hardiness is higher in males compared to females (OR = 1.930, CI = 1.115 - 3.340; P < 0.05) and is also higher in those with high compassion satisfaction compared to those with low compassion satisfaction (OR = 1.386, CI = 1.256 - 1.529; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study indicate that individuals involved in disaster response should consider compassion satisfaction as an important tool for enhancing psychological hardiness.

IMPORTANCE: Stroke survivors experience changes in participation level, satisfaction with participation, and participation balance, making it necessary to have a validated tool for their assessment. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Satisfaction With Daily Occupations and Occupational Balance (SDO-OB) in stroke survivors. DESIGN: Psychometric study. SETTING: National multicenter study (rehabilitation centers, and hospitals). PARTICIPANTS: One hundred forty stroke survivors with and without a primary caregiver. OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: Participants completed the SDO-OB, the five-level version of the EQ-5D (EQ-5D-5L), and the Activity Card Sort (ACS). Internal consistency, convergent validity, known-groups validity, and floor and ceiling effects were assessed. Intraobserver reliability was assessed 1 wk apart. RESULTS: The internal consistency was acceptable; Cronbach's α = .80, 95% confidence interval (CI) [0.75, 0.85]. A moderate correlation was found between the SDO-OB summed participation level and summed participation satisfaction (ρ = .53). Both SDO-OB summed scores correlated with ACS scores (0.25 < ρ < .61). However, only summed participation satisfaction scores correlated with the emotional component of the EQ-5D-5L (ρ = .32). The SDO-OB discriminated between groups with and without a caregiver (p = .001) and had no floor or ceiling effects (<7%). Good intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were obtained for summed participation level (ICC = .91; 95% CI [.85, .94]) and summed participation satisfaction (ICC = .86; 95% CI [.78, .92]). Standard error of measurement and minimum detectable change were 0.7 and 1.9 points, respectively, for summed participation level and 4.5 and 12.4, respectively, for summed participation satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: The Spanish version of the SDO-OB presented good psychometric properties, making it a suitable instrument to address participation level, participation satisfaction, and participation balance in stroke survivors. Plain-Language Summary: After a stroke, survivors experience changes in their participation in daily activities and how satisfied they are with them. This study examined whether a tool called Satisfaction With Daily Occupations and Occupational Balance (SDO-OB) could provide reliable information about this. We looked at 140 stroke survivors from different places in Spain to see whether they had someone caring for them, how healthy they were, and how their participation in daily activities changed after stroke. We found that the SDO-OB is helpful for understanding a stroke survivor's situation and can identify areas needing intervention and track changes caused by intervention plans.

ABSTRACT

The satisfaction of patients is one of key indicators used to assess quality of medical care and its effectiveness from point of view of achieving patient-oriented results. Nowadays, the tools assessing patient satisfaction with medical care are largely applied all over the world. The world experience of monitoring satisfaction of population with medical care is necessary for better understanding of dynamics of indicator and possible forecasting of its level in Russia. The purpose of the study is to analyze existing national systems of monitoring satisfaction of patient with medical care and to identify particular established trends. The search for free access publications was implemented using such databases as PubMed, Google Scholar, ResearchGate and eLibrary. The keywords patient satisfaction, national monitoring, satisfaction trends, The sampling included 55 publications. The analysis established that in many countries measurement of degree of satisfaction of patient with medical care become routine practice and integral part of of evaluation of efficacy of both medical organizations and health care in a whole. The initial level of satisfaction with medical care depends on multitude of population variables, including predominant race, culture and nationality of population, gender and age structure, social economic conditions, level of incomes and prevalence of urban or rural population. The dynamics of satisfaction level in most countries demonstrates steady, but slow and statistically insignificant increasing of indicators, though different in various domains of satisfaction. The identified factors are to be considered both at the Federal level to formulate correct conclusions and at the regional level to develop corresponding measures.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Regarding competency of nursing students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), nursing students frequently exhibit inadequate performance and low satisfaction levels regarding CPR training methods. The problem-based learning (PBL) method, characterized by a constructivist approach, has been underutilized for CPR training, particularly in a virtual format. Hence, this study aims to assess the influence of virtual problem-based learning in cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the satisfaction and performance of fourth-year nursing students. METHODS: This quasi-experimental study, conducted in 2022, involved 80 final-year nursing students from Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (N = 40) or the control group (N = 40). The experimental group was further divided into six smaller groups on WhatsApp. Both groups initially received routine training sessions, after which the experimental group engaged in four problem-based learning sessions across three different scenarios. Data collection included demographic information, a teaching satisfaction questionnaire, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation checklists administered immediately and one month after the intervention. RESULTS: The study was initiated and concluded with 80 participants. The study commenced with no significant disparity in the mean scores of cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance, encompassing chest compressions (P = 0.451) and airway management (P = 0.378), as well as teaching satisfaction (p = 0.115) among the nursing students between the experimental and control groups. However, subsequent to the intervention, both immediately and one month later, the experimental group displayed notable enhancements in mean scores for cardiopulmonary resuscitation performance, comprising chest compressions (p < 0.001) and airway management (p < 0.001), as well as teaching satisfaction (p < 0.001) compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: Based on the study's findings, it is recommended that nursing educators implement this approach in their teaching practices.

INTRODUCTION: Cardiovascular diseases are a common chronic illness in adults, with implications for health and psychological well-being. These implications not only affect the patients themselves but also impact family members, especially the spouses of patients. One significant issue and consequence of this disease is its impact on marital relationships and sexual satisfaction, which can also influence other dimensions of quality of life. The aim of the current study is to determine the effect of couple counseling based on the CHARMS model on sexual quality of life and marital satisfaction of wives of men suffering from myocardial infarction. METHOD: This study is a clinical randomized controlled trial. Sampling will be done on a convenience basis. Participants will be randomly allocated into two groups: control (50 couples) and intervention (50 couples). Couples in 6 groups of 8 members each will attend counseling sessions based con the CHARMS model, with sessions held weekly and lasting for 60 min. Data collection tools will include Demographic information questionnaire, Women's Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire, Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire, Sexual Compatibility Questionnaire and Perceived Quality of Relationship Dimensions Questionnaire, which will be completed by women in both groups before and after the intervention. Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests and SPSS software. DISCUSSION: This trial will evaluate whether a counseling intervention based on the CHARMS model can enhance sexual quality of life and marital satisfaction of wives of men with myocardial infarction in Urmia city. A CHARMS-based intervention with 4 principles addresses the sexual and marital relationship empowerment of couples following a severe heart attack. These principles include: (1) Counseling and providing information on the impact of cardiovascular diseases on sexual desires. (2) Counseling and providing information on a healthy sexual life and communication skills strategies with the sexual partner. (3) Counseling on uncovering false beliefs and misconceptions regarding relationship risks and fears. (4) Providing tips and solutions for resuming sexual relations after a severe heart event, addressing sexual and interpersonal challenges. This intervention sets patients' expectations of sexual relationships based on a final focus on "sexual intimacy" as the ultimate goal of therapy.This study is a clinical randomized controlled trial. INTRODUCTION: The article focuses on the professional quality of life of medical residents, and specifically on compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction. Previous studies have indicated high levels of emotional stress among residents. Most of these studies were conducted within the positivistic paradigm. The qualitative study concentrates on pediatric residents during ER rotations in both routine and pandemic times. AIMS: The research goal is to explore how compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction are manifested among the residents. METHODS: Conducted in the phenomenological genre, the study included 14 pediatric residents in a large Israeli hospital. The research tool was a semi-structured interview. RESULTS: All residents reported substantial work overloads. About half of the participants indicated signs of compassion fatigue, manifested in negative emotions and diminished empathy and sensitivity, especially towards patients' families. Some exhibited a combination of compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction. About half of the residents clearly expressed feelings of compassion satisfaction or empathy for patients (without direct expressions of compassion satisfaction). CONCLUSIONS: The research gave pediatric residents a platform to express their voices, shedding light on the complexity of their work. While a substantial number of participants reported compassion fatigue, the findings are encouraging. Despite the reported work overload, most of them maintained their sense of commitment and compassion, which are crucial for their work. However, participants' senses of stress and burnout have negative consequences both individually and organizationally. The study suggests that residents might gain from systematic intervention and recommendations have been offered to hospital administrations.

BACKGROUND: Dementia is often associated with functional impairments that limit the independence of persons living with dementia (PwD). As such, many PwD often require a higher level of support provided by persons referred to as caregivers. Such caregiving activities tend to strain and stress the caregiver. Nonetheless, Ghana lacks empirical evidence and understanding of the effects of caring for PwD on the lives of primary caregivers. To help narrow this knowledge gap, we explored the perspectives of primary caregivers about the impacts of caring for PwD in Ghana. METHODS: Using a descriptive phenomenological design, we conducted in-depth interviews with primary caregivers in the Ashanti region, Ghana. A semi-structured interview guide was used as the data collection instrument. The data analysis followed Collazi's thematic analysis framework. All coding and categorization were done in NVivo-12. RESULTS: Five themes emerged from the analysis. These themes included (a) sacrifice of personal interests, and time commitments; (b) financial strain and negative impact on job; (c) feelings of stress and burnout; (d) experience of abuse and stigma; and (e) perceived blessing of caregiving. CONCLUSION: The study's findings resonate with existing literature, highlighting the consistent struggles faced by caregivers. Sacrificing personal interests, navigating financial strains, and grappling with stress and burnout emerged as pervasive themes. We conclude that despite the negative impacts of caring for PwD, caregivers perceived their role as associated with blessings, deriving positive meaning and fulfilment from their caregiving journey. This study underscores a need to build more compassionate communities in rural settings of Ghana.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The most rapidly increasing medical aesthetic procedures for facial antiaging comprise nonenergy and injectable treatments. Currently, standards for skin care before, during, and after nonenergy and injectable treatments are lacking. The algorithm on supportive skin care for facial antiaging nonenergy and injectable treatments aims to stimulate healing, reduce downtime, and improve comfort and treatment outcomes.  Methods: A panel of 7 global physicians employed a modified Delphi method and reached a consensus on an algorithm for supportive skin care for nonenergy and injectable antiaging treatments based on the best available evidence and the panel members’ clinical experiences and opinions. RESULTS: The algorithm has a pretreatment (starts 2 – 4 weeks before the procedure) and treatment or ongoing (day of treatment) section, followed by care after the procedure (0 – 7 days) and follow-up care (1 – 4 weeks after the procedure). Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher, combined with protective measures, such as wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, is recommended to protect the face from sun exposure. Dyschromia is a significant concern for those with richly pigmented skin. Clinicians may recommend skin care using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer containing vitamins C and E, retinoid, or other ingredients, such as niacinamide, kojic acid, licorice root extract, azelaic acid, and tranexamic acid, depending on the patient's facial skin condition. CONCLUSION: Nonenergy and injectable procedures combined with skin care or topical treatments may improve outcomes and patient satisfaction. Topical antioxidants and free radical quenchers can combat photodamage and may offer a safe alternative to topical hydroquinone.    J Drugs Dermatol. 2024;23(4):     doi:10.36849/JDD.7918.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Mentoring medical students with varied backgrounds and individual needs can be challenging. Mentors' satisfaction is likely to be important for the quality and sustainability of mentorships, especially in programs where the mentor has responsibility for facilitating a group of mentees. However, little is known about what influences mentors' satisfaction. The aim of this study was to measure mentors' self-reported satisfaction with the mentoring experience and to explore associations between satisfaction and its putative factors. METHODS: An online survey was sent out to all physician mentors in each of the three mentorship programs (UiT The Arctic University of Norway, the University of Bergen, and McGill University, graduation years 2013-2020, n = 461). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, dimension reduction, and linear regression. RESULTS: On a scale from 1 to 5, mean mentor satisfaction score at two Norwegian and one Canadian medical school was 4.55 (95% CI 4.47, 4.64). In a multilevel multivariate regression analysis, two predictors were significantly associated with mentors' satisfaction: (1) the perception that students found the group meetings valuable (ß = 0.186, 95% CI 0.021, 0.351, p = 0.027) and (2) mentors' perceived rewards (ß = 0.330, 95% CI 0.224, 0.437, p < 0.001). Perceived rewards included experiencing gratifying relationships with students, and mentors' perception of self-development. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, mentors appeared to be highly satisfied with their mentoring functions. Our findings suggest that mentors' overall satisfaction is closely linked to their experiences of fulfilling mentor-student relationships and personal and professional development. Interestingly, and perhaps contrary to commonly held assumptions, we found no association between mentor satisfaction and financial compensation. Furthermore, satisfaction was not associated with the provision of pre-assigned topics for discussions for mentor group meetings. We propose that the mentors' experienced psycho-social rewards, and their competence in establishing well-functioning group dynamics, should be areas of focus for faculty development.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To develop and validate a questionnaire on satisfaction with clinical practice for mentors (QSCP-M) and a questionnaire on satisfaction with clinical practice for students (QSCP-S). METHODS: Two versions of the questionnaires were constructed: a version for mentors and a version for students. Both surveys were conducted at two time points. The first survey was completed by 252 students and 86 mentors, and the second by 291 students and 94 mentors. RESULTS: Several exploratory factor analyses were performed on the results obtained, and two factors were identified for the QSCP-M and one factor for the QSCP-S. The coefficients of internal reliability for both questionnaires indicated stable and reliable measuring instruments. CONCLUSIONS: Clinical practice satisfaction questionnaires for mentors and students showed good metric characteristics. The validation shows that both questionnaires are appropriate for examining general and specific satisfaction with clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to examine the association between user satisfaction and clinical outcomes with child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) from the perspective of young people and their parents. The evidence bases for CAMHS user satisfaction measures are limited, with few studies investigating the link between user satisfaction and clinical outcomes. In particular, the perspectives of young people are missing. METHODS: The parent and youth versions of the Experience of Service Questionnaire (ESQ), which evaluates the factors of general satisfaction (GS), satisfaction with care (SWC) and satisfaction with environment (SWE), were used to measure user satisfaction. The outcome measures were scores on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Children's Global Assessment Scale (CGAS), and Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for Children and Adolescents (HoNOSCA). Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted on data collected from 233 young people and 495 parents who utilized CAMHS services. RESULTS: GS and SWC predicted outcomes for both young people (ΔR2 = 0.08, p <.05) and parents (ΔR2 = 0.01, p <.05), indicating that user satisfaction had a significant impact on clinical outcomes for CAMHS users. In addition, GS and SWC significantly predicted young people-reported outcomes in the interaction model (ΔR2 = 0.10, p <.05), while no significant association was found with parent-reported outcomes (ΔR2 = 0.02, p =.09). CONCLUSION: User satisfaction, particularly for young people, has a significant impact on clinical outcomes. The causal relationship between user satisfaction and mental health outcomes requires further study.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) operates as a non-governmental organization dedicated to offering family planning and reproductive health services to the Ethiopian population. The gap in the study regarding client satisfaction and contributing factors towards sexual and reproductive health services for youth at FGAE clinics highlights the need for a comprehensive investigation to fill this void. By conducting a mixed-method study, this research aims to provide a holistic understanding of the factors influencing client satisfaction in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services to youth at FGAE clinics. The added value of this study lies in its potential to offer valuable insights and recommendations for improving service delivery systems and enhancing client satisfaction levels, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being and health outcomes of youth in North Ethiopia. Therefore study aimed to asses Client Satisfaction and Contributing Factors towards in sexual and reproductive health services delivery system among youth at Family Guidance Association of North Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics, 2023. METHOD: The study was conducted within the clinics of the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), spanning Dessie, Kombolcha, and Woldia city administrations, involving a participant cohort of 416 clients. Facility-based concurrent type mixed method study design both quantitative and qualitative techniques were applied. Quantitative research employed a simple random sampling technique and conversely, the qualitative study utilized a heterogeneous type of purposive sampling strategy to recruit participants The collected data underwent a rigorous process of entry, cleaning, and coding using Epi-Data 4.6 software, followed by analysis in STATA V17. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression were employed to highlight the impact of independent variables on the dependent variable. A more comprehensive examination was provided through multivariable logistic regression. Crude and adjusted odds ratios, along with a 95% confidence interval, were computed, with significance set at a p-value ≤ 0.05. RESULT: Nearly more than half of the clients 194 (47.8%) came to receive family planning services followed by maternal and child health 107 (26.4%). Sixty patients (14.8%) didn't receive all the services they wanted or came for. Half of the participants 30 (50%) raised the unavailability of the service as a reason for not taking the service followed by not having enough time in the clinic 12 (20%). About 65.52% (60.74-70.00%) of the participants were satisfied with the Sexual and Reproductive Health services provided by the clinics of FGAE in northeast Ethiopia. Clients in the age group of 25-34 (AOR = 2.04; 95%CI: 1.11-3.72). Clients who had primary and secondary education (AOR = 2.49; 95%CI: 1.03-6.02) and (AOR = 3.05; 95%CI: 1.25-7.49) respectively. Clients who responded that physicians show respect (AOR = 5.59; 95%CI: 1.89-16.49). clients who received an explanation about the side effects of the utilized methods and follow-up dates (AOR = 4.59;95%CI:1.68-12.53) and (AOR = 2.89;95%CI:1.53-5.49) respectively. CONCLUSION: The proportion of client satisfaction with Client Satisfaction in the Services delivery system at Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics was low as compared to the previous study. Age group 25-34 years, primary and secondary education, showing respect, explaining side-effects and follow-up visits were significant associated factors of client service satisfaction. Enhancing service delivery at Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics by targeting specific areas identified in the study. Strategies should focus on improving communication regarding side effects, ensuring respectful interactions, and prioritizing follow-up visits, particularly for clients aged 25-34 with primary and secondary education backgrounds.

BACKGROUND: Postoperative quality of recovery (QoR) and patient satisfaction have gained increasing significance in medical services. This study aimed to compare these 2 parameters between 2 types of regional anesthetics (spinal anesthesia and combined sciatic-femoral nerve block) in orthopedic lower knee surgery. METHODS: A total of 101 patients were classified into 2 groups (combined sciatic-femoral nerve block, group N; spinal anesthesia, group S) according to patient preference. In group N, sciatic and femoral nerve blocks were performed on the popliteal and groin regions, respectively, under ultrasound guidance. Spinal anesthesia was performed in group S. The primary outcomes were QoR and patient satisfaction. QoR was measured using the Korean translation of the QoR-15K. Patient satisfaction was assessed using an 11-point Likert scale (0-10) and a dichotomous question addressing anesthesia preferences for future surgeries. RESULTS: The physical independence of the postoperative QoR-15K was significantly higher in group N than in group S (14.2 vs 12.0, P = .04). On the 11-point Likert scale, group N scored 8.8, and group S scored 7.8 (P = .001). In the dichotomous question, 93.8% of the group N and 52.8% of the group S answered that they would like to choose the same anesthesia method for the next surgery (P < .001). In addition, fewer participants in group N complained of backache than those in group S, and the time to first urination after anesthesia was shorter in group N than in group S (P = .004, <.001, respectively). CONCLUSION: Combined sciatic-femoral nerve block may provide better physical independence and satisfaction than spinal anesthesia in orthopedic below-knee surgeries.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study is to determine the connection between the attitude towards the forest and life satisfaction of students. The study was conducted on a sample of 650 students from Polish universities using The Satisfaction With Life Scale and an original questionnaire measuring the approach towards the forest-LAS scale. There are 3 subscales which measured: the perceived benefits from spending time in the forest; the degree of involvement in exploring the forest and working to its advantage; fears connected with the forest. The scale indicated good psychometric properties. Its reliability expressed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient is at the level of 0.90 (0.93 for Benefits scale; 0.87 for Involvement and 0.79 for Fears). The results of the statistical analysis have led to conclusions confirming the relationship between life satisfaction and the results of LAS scale. People satisfied with their lives are more involved in exploring the forest, they enjoy more benefits connected with forest recreation and express fewer fears. Forestry students are characterised by the highest involvement and the lowest level of fears connected with the forest. As far as life satisfaction is concerned, they are in the lead among Polish students just behind students of medical and artistic studies.
